It’s called Magical Iceland and it really is magical. We got to explore all the sights of the Golden Circle all the while being driven, wined and dined by Ymir the Viking ;) We know this tour will forever remain an epic memory!
Ymir picked us up (on time, woohoo!) at our hotel and served us some homemade delicacies as well as fresh pastries from the local bakery. All the little attentions were on point – he made sure we were always comfortable and had thought of EVERYTHING. The first stop was in a hot spring. There aren’t enough words to describe how magical this was, being surrounded by nature and snow all the while dipping in a creek of warm water. Ymir had prepared some super tasty treats made with local ingredients and more importantly with a lot of love. Everything was on point – really impressive to watch him prepare the dishes on his little cooler in the middle of nowhere!
We got to explore all the sights all the while having our own guide, extra knowledgeable on everything, always there to tell fun stories and anecdotes along the way. We visited the greenhouse where we were served fresh tomato soup, pizza, bloody marys (the best one EVER and I’ve tasted quite a few before!).Our final stop was a dairy farm, where we were served THE BEST beef carpaccio of all time, made on site with fresh local beef and freshly made cheese. Ymir said we could never ever have beef carpaccio again and I’m pretty sure he is right. This one outclassed Michelin star restaurants by a mile. This was followed with burgers with “happy bacon”, freshly homemade skyr, and the BEST icecream. At borh stops we got to explore the facilities and learn so much about Icelandic culture and food :) At the very end we were treated to the traditional taste of shark and Black Death – we even had seconds, and thirds, we never wanted that day to come to an end!
We certainly recommend this tour in a heartbeat to any foodie who wants to discover Iceland the REAL way – not like any other tourist – and have the most fun day ever. It was one of our greatest experiences of all time and we have had quite a few ;)
